SketchUp AI Render

Turn SketchUp views into photoreal renders

SketchUp is quick to model in, but a screenshot still reads as a model. Export the scene, drop it into RenderChat and describe the materials, light and atmosphere you want. The AI uses your massing and camera as its starting point, and you refine the result through follow-up messages instead of setting up a renderer.

Before you start

Prepare your SketchUp view

Export a SketchUp scene, describe materials and light, and refine a photoreal render in chat.

1

Save a scene

Set the camera you want and save it as a Scene. Camera ▸ Two-Point Perspective keeps verticals straight, which reads as architectural photography.

2

Use a clean style

Pick a style with plain faces and thin edges, or switch edges off. Turn shadows on in the Shadows panel so the AI has a cue for light direction.

3

Export the view

Hide guides, axes and section planes, then File ▸ Export ▸ 2D Graphic at 2000 px or wider. A screenshot works too, including from SketchUp Free.

Same input, different models

Each example uses the same SketchUp view and the same brief, so the differences come from the model.

Example briefs

SketchUp briefs to start from

Say what must stay first, then materials, light, setting and people.

Exterior, late afternoon
Photoreal exterior render of this SketchUp model. Keep the building form, openings and camera. Light timber cladding, dark metal window frames, board-formed concrete base. Late-afternoon sun from the left with soft shadows, mature trees, two people walking.
Interior, daylight
Turn this SketchUp interior into a photoreal render. Keep the room layout and furniture positions. Oak floor, warm limewash walls, linen sofa, soft daylight through the windows, editorial interior photography.

Quality check

What to check in the result

  • Window mullions, railings and other thin geometry — they drift first.
  • Faces that share a color in SketchUp can merge into one material. Color the main surfaces distinctly before exporting.
  • The roofline and openings against your model view before the image goes to a client.

FAQ

SketchUp AI Render questions

Which AI model is best for SketchUp renders?

It depends on the brief and the look you want. Run the same SketchUp view through two or three models — RenderChat lets you switch models in the same chat — and keep the one that respects your design best.

Do I need a SketchUp plugin?

No. RenderChat works from an exported image of your SketchUp view, so any SketchUp version works, including SketchUp Free.

Will the render match my SketchUp model exactly?

Your view is the starting point, not a constraint the AI is guaranteed to follow. Check edges, openings and proportions, and ask for corrections in chat. RenderChat is not a physically exact renderer.

Bring your SketchUp view to RenderChat.

Upload your SketchUp view, pick a model and describe the result you want.
